History

Before being established in 1992 as part of Himachal Pradesh’s wildlife conservation efforts, the present area of the Himalayan Nature Park (HNP kufri) was used to be a musk deer farm since 1965. In 1996, the central zoo authority of India recognized this park as the Himalayan Nature Park Kufri Zoo.

Location

Kufri zoo is roughly far 16–18 km from in northeast from Shimla. It located the 500 meters ahead of horse riding point on Shimla to Kufri(NH 05 Shimla-Narkanda). Kufri zoo is easy reachable by HPRTC bus local and cab or texi. It take almost 45 minutes to 1 hour from Mall Road or bus stand or Railway station Shimla to reach Kufri zoo.
